  4. Run the FMCSA Clearinghouse pre-employment query
  5. Capture the medical card decision

CDL Skills Test and Issuance

  1. Submit the CDL application at the state DMV
  2. Schedule the three-part CDL skills test
  3. Take the vehicle inspection, basic controls, and road test
  4. Record the skills test outcome
  5. Pay issuance fees and collect the CDL

Endorsements and Restrictions

  1. Confirm whether hazmat (H) is needed
  2. Submit the TSA hazmat threat assessment
  3. Pass tanker, doubles/triples, or passenger endorsement tests
  4. Plan removal of the E, L, or air-brake restriction

Maintaining CDL Certification

  1. Schedule the next DOT physical before expiration
  2. Run the annual Clearinghouse limited query
  3. Pull the annual MVR for the DQ file
  4. Track CDL renewal and self-certification deadlines
