Accessibility Compliance Checklist
Building Entrances and Exits
Ensure at least one accessible entrance is available and clearly marked.
Verify that doorways are wide enough (minimum 32 inches) to accommodate wheelchairs.
Install ramps with proper slope and handrails where necessary.
Common Areas
Ensure that hallways and corridors are wide enough (minimum 36 inches) for wheelchair access.
Install elevators or lifts in multi-story buildings.
Provide accessible restrooms with grab bars and sufficient space for maneuvering.
Parking Facilities
Designate an adequate number of accessible parking spaces close to building entrances.
Ensure that accessible parking spaces have proper signage and are marked with the international symbol of accessibility.
Provide an access aisle adjacent to each accessible parking space.
Communication and Signage
Install tactile and braille signage for rooms and facilities.
Ensure that emergency alarms and notifications are both audible and visual.
Provide accessible communication options, such as TTY devices or video relay services.
Policies and Training
Develop written policies that outline accessibility requirements and procedures.
Conduct regular training sessions for staff on accessibility best practices and legal requirements.
Establish a process for addressing accessibility complaints and feedback.
