Verify the full name and address of the shipper

Confirm the full name and address of the consignee

Check for a contact person at both the shipping and receiving points

Ensure the carrier’s name and address are correct

Check the SCAC (Standard Carrier Alpha Code) is accurately noted

Confirm the presence of the carrier’s signature and date

Review the description of the freight, including any special handling instructions

Check the quantity of items, including units of measure

Verify the weight of the shipment and ensure it's within legal limits

Ensure the correct freight charges are applied and math is accurate

Check that any prepaid or collect shipping terms are properly noted

Confirm if any additional services and fees are itemized and justified

Verify hazardous material information is complete, if applicable

Ensure any temperature control requirements are clearly stated

Check the Bill of Lading number for tracking purposes

Confirm the presence of any required customs or import/export documentation
