Ensure that all inventory areas are clean and organized for accurate counting
Assign specific sections or categories to team members to streamline the process
Inventory Counting
Start with the high-value items first and check against the previous week's records for discrepancies
Count all items using the First-In, First-Out (FIFO) method to ensure the oldest stock is used first
Record quantities accurately, noting any partial units or open packages, and double-check high-variance items
Data Entry and Analysis
Input all counted inventory data into the inventory management system or spreadsheet
Compare current inventory levels to the previous week's to identify any unusual variations
Analyze inventory data to forecast future needs, identify possible overstock, and determine reorder points
Ordering and Restocking
Based on the analysis, create purchase orders for items that are low in stock or in high demand
Communicate with suppliers about any upcoming events or promotions that may affect inventory needs
Schedule deliveries to coincide with slower business hours for efficient stocking and storage
Review and Improvement

Update inventory management procedures or tools as needed to improve accuracy and efficiency
Train staff on any new processes or tools implemented to ensure consistency in future counts
