Property Inspection Checklist
Exterior Inspection
Check for any damage to the building's exterior, including walls and roof
Inspect the condition of windows, doors, and entryways
Evaluate the landscaping and grounds for maintenance needs
Interior Inspection
Verify that all smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors are functioning
Inspect the condition of walls, ceilings, and floors for damage
Check that all plumbing fixtures are operational and there are no leaks
Safety and Compliance
Ensure that fire extinguishers are present and have been serviced as required
Check for proper signage where necessary (e.g., exit signs, emergency contact information)
Confirm that stairways, hallways, and common areas are free of obstacles and hazards
Appliances and Systems
Test heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems for proper functionality
Inspect all provided appliances (refrigerator, stove, dishwasher, etc.) for operation and maintenance
Review electrical systems, including switches, outlets, and circuit breakers, for safety and function
Tenant Compliance
Assess the property for any unauthorized alterations or additions by tenants
Check for compliance with lease terms regarding property maintenance and use
Document any evidence of smoking, pet damage, or other lease violations
