Finalize Case Work
Ensure all legal work is completed and documented
Confirm that all court dates and deadlines are concluded or withdrawn
Finalize and file any necessary closing documents with the court
Client Communication
Inform the client of the matter closure in writing
Provide the client with a summary of the outcome
Discuss any post-closure matters, such as appeals or compliance
Financial Matters
Prepare and send the final invoice to the client
Resolve any outstanding expenses or disbursements
Confirm receipt of all payments and close out client trust accounts
Documentation and Records
Archive all case files and related documents in accordance with the firm's policy
Record the closure in the firm's case management system
Ensure confidentiality and proper disposal of any sensitive information
Internal Procedures
Conduct a debriefing meeting with the team involved in the matter
Update practice management systems to reflect the case closure
Identify and document any lessons learned or best practices for future reference
Compliance and Ethics
Verify that the closure adheres to all ethical guidelines and reporting requirements
Ensure that any conflicts of interest are recorded and managed appropriately
Confirm all legal and professional responsibilities towards the client have been fulfilled
