Project Closure Checklist
Project Documentation
Ensure all project documentation is complete and up to date
Archive project documents in a secure but accessible location
Prepare and distribute the final project report to stakeholders
Client Approval and Feedback
Obtain formal project acceptance and sign-off from the client
Conduct a client satisfaction survey to gather feedback
Document lessons learned and share them with the relevant teams
Code and Database Management
Perform final backup of the project code and databases
Merge all development branches and tag the final release in the version control system
Ensure that all access to project resources is revoked or transferred as appropriate
Financial and Administrative Closure
Complete all financial transactions and billing related to the project
Close out any contracts or agreements associated with the project
Update the company’s project management and resource allocation systems
Team and Resource Reallocation
Conduct final team meeting to discuss the project closure
Release project team members and allocate them to new projects
Reallocate or decommission project resources, such as servers and licenses
Maintenance and Support Handover
Transfer knowledge to the maintenance and support team
Provide all necessary documentation and training to the support staff
Set up support and maintenance agreements with the client, if applicable
