Employee Exit Checklist
Access and Security
Revoke access to company systems (email, CRM, ERP, etc.)
Collect company ID badge and access cards
Change passwords for shared accounts the employee had access to
Ensure return of all company-owned devices (laptops, mobile phones, etc.)
Deactivate VPN access
Knowledge Transfer and Documentation
Conduct exit interview to gather feedback and insights
Ensure completion of all outstanding tasks and projects
Transfer knowledge to team members or new hires
Document and archive important information and processes
Update team and department documentation to reflect changes
Financial and Administrative
Settle outstanding expenses and reimbursements
Update payroll to reflect termination date
Retrieve company credit cards and other financial instruments
Remove employee from benefits programs and update HR records
Prepare the final paycheck and any severance package
Return of Company Property
Collect all company keys and security tokens
Retrieve company-provided tools and equipment
Ensure return of any company-provided software licenses
Check for return of any company documents or files
Inspect returned items for damage or missing components
